just thought I should introduce myself.

I am Stu, and have started my build of a ford based GT. I have been glued to all the build blogs and sites for months to get as much info as possible but it still does not prepare you for actually having a chassis in the garage and boxes of parts to make a car. Suspension is hung on now after not being satisfied with how it was the first few times. the other usual first bits are on too, g/box mount, diff and prop shaft, steering and master cylinder are hung in as my son wanted to help with this. Also the rear fuel panel and pump are on. still waiting for a few parts from GBS but nothing that will hold me up. Had a few disasters already, 3 in 1 day. The list of questions changes from day to day as I scour the threads when i am not sure and can mostly find answers.

Anyway, another limited volume(one) car manufacturer has arrived on the scene.

Welcome Stu - sounds like you're quite far advanced in your build as well...

Don't suppose you've got a blog going? I get bored just re-reading my own all the time Wink

hi Nelmo. i would say that i am t the starting/scary stage. I find I am now spending more time thinking about the next move as it is so tempting to just charge ahead and get things done.

I have tried to start a blog but found myself re writing the first page so many times. I might try and get something constructive written down this weekend. It might help me by making me get into a proper more reflective mind set if you know what I mean.

Welcome to the enjoyable world of car building. Remember to have fun as you re-do an assembly for the 92nd time. It's all a learning experience.

.
Any advice you get for nothing is worth what you pay for it.

That being said, this is what I did. It costs a beer.
So now you know it will be a car because it looks like it with wheels on. Be happy.

Clamped the side panels on temporarily then fitted the front suspension.
Was necessary to fettle the steering hole to be central when arm was waved about.

I marked each front suspension point on the chassis with it's contents.
Arrow for bolt direction, dot for each washer/spacer on bracket where they went.
Removed these bolts from inside the chassis as the side panel was on. Possible?

Left the side panels off till the insides were done. Then put the front suspension back on.

Welcome to the club Stu. Great way to spent the coming summer.

When it gets to a certain stage nobody can walk past without stopping for a chat! I spend more time chatting now than I do building!
