quite possibly, that does not mean to say 15600 current contributors, many have come and gone but their membership remains, and I am pretty sure some are spurious.

All forums do that - same with You Tube subscribers and Twitter followers stats etc...all a load of twaddle.

No, probably more, looking but saying nothing.

I think they are happy asking questions on Facebook, but afraid to ask on here.

its all you knowledgeable builders that put them off Smile

The MAJOR problem with using this site is the inability to attach files, documents and photos. There is no way to easily share information, communicate on a private level or be generally social. The search function also drops out after showing 1 or 2 pages out of many more available.
Sure there is plenty of information on the site, granted of various versions and models, but if you can not get to it and share it, what good is it?
'Dog's dinner' as I believe you say. It would be to GBS's benefit to improve on the site software.

I don't think Facebook is the answer either.
Gripe OFF.

Smile

You can get things onto the site, but I have to say its not that easy, which is why I link to Dropbox or Mega rather that upload.

Do you thing we should go the unofficial forum route Marlin? would builders follow, or are they so in awe of Facebook as to make it pointless?

The Facebook forum I find very dangerous, many of the learned contributes are not that learned, I really believe that they should declare where and from who'm they have obtained the information they report as fact. but more importantly, state if they built and IVA'd.

That would be any eye opener for many.

I know who you are CoolLaugh

Personally I wouldn’t mind if it were an official or non-official site. I joined this one as it was mentioned to me on ordering and between you all I built and IVA’d my car. For some reason it’s gradually got more and more quiet over the years I’ve been on and now is very rare I check and find a new post. Maybe something for GBS to re-invigorate or close down?

I expected them to close it down when I left, and presently surprised that it kept going.

Except for Ruths input, I am not sure there is any factory technical personnel on here, may be wrong, but you could claim that this is now the unofficial site as my information is getting dated as time moves on.

I agree it does need some input somewhere but unless the factory pays someone to do it unless it's your "thing" no one out of work is going to give the time
Some kit car companies have really great thriving forums others are just left to tick over -how much business a forum helps create is hard to judge BUT walk around some clubs at Stoneleigh and it seem EVERYONE from that manufacturer is on the forum and its buzzing - other clubs no one cares and no one bothers .

Just got chance to check my last post, I am proud to be a member of such a large forum, even if only a few are posting on it. Is it possible that not many technical questions are being asked because the answers are already there and people are looking back through the forum to find them, I always tried to before asking a question, is there any way of checking this? I would much prefer to get an answer off someone that has 'been there, done that' than someone that is taking a guess.
