Hi Simon,
Any further up date regarding GBS Mot emissions up grade modification kit that was going to be offered to
customers running jenvi throttle bodies and emmerald ecu with GBS power map and large gbs silencer with internal cat.
Been over a year since any further reports.

John.

I have built a lambda kit, it can be screwed into fitting in front pipe, fitting to run under car , not through side, and plug into the main loom, I have modified the firmware to switch on the lambda and calibrate the one I have (more on calibration later). maps fitted and switched on by inserting dongle.

Tested at IVA on a Zetec with Plenum, and worked perfectly, drove in on power map, inserted dongle into port B, ECU switched to controlled emission map, car went straight through test, unplugged and back to power.

now the problem, the calibration, at present, needs a gas tester OR an understanding of the signals being received in the ECU software, not a problem at the workshop, but not so easy in the field, so it is not something that I can say is a plug and play option, yet or possibly at all.

Testing on all throttle and map combinations is required and I am reliant on vehicles coming in for IVA test which are suitable, e.g. NOT Mazda kits, which are becoming more common, and have the correct fittings to trial the kit.

The second vehicle I tried was on AT throttles, and did not behave well. Although the lambda was set to only effect AFR between 2500 and 3000 RPM, it has an immediate effect at 2500, which causes the engine to hunt, the solution is to richen the map running up to 2500 RPM at minimal load, an area that you would never run at in normal use, but it takes time to adjust, and some throttle combinations are more amenable than others. I have not had a jenvey set up to try at all.

I must also clarify, this is my project in an attempt to help, and is totally unofficial, I believe it will work given the resources, but it appears unlikely to be taken up as an option by GBS, so at best a DIY.

Hi John,

I use an Innovate Wide band lambda sensor and GBS power map on closed loop in the Emerald. It Went straight through the APK (Dutch MOT). Easy to install yourself.
Mine is permanently installed, but i guess you could do a temporarily install as well. The Wide band cost me about 200 euro's if i remember correctly.

Best regards David

I can provide one, but although close it is NOT guaranteed, especially if the start of the map is not calibrated, did I set it?

I'd like it, if possible - better than nothing.

The car did come to yours for IVA, Richard sent me an engine map the other day dated 2011 and it says do not drive on this engine map, I was wondering if there is a map that can be driven

Thanks
Andy

that’s the emission map, I put that on the details screen to clearly differentiate between it and the power map.

To be honest it is unlikely to have any detrimental effect in normal driving however it is theoretically possible for the engine to go very lean in some situations, hence the warning.

Personal I would run on the power and switch to the emission only when needed.

I hope you are also aware that the emission map will still need some tinkering on test day, unless you are feeding feedback.
