Can you believe that the number plate, GB57ERO, is available to buy from the DVLA for a mere £700? Love private plates... sorely tempted...

If you need a push I'd say go for it. Here in California Paul has already grabbed GBSZERO on his car but your numbers would be a good alternative. Here private plates are called vanity plates and are $50 extra a year on top of the required fees. On my Cobra I have "FUN EH". Get more than a few head turns.

I wish we were as relaxed with our cars; no IVA, no number plate restrictions - much better attitude...

Just check on the regulations regarding cherished plates on kits, I know you can't change a Q. But I know you are not aiming for that.

Well, actually, it depends on how much trouble I have with emissions at IVA. If it's a struggle, I'm not going to have that hassle every year at MOT so I will go Q plate.

I would like a private plate but I'd rather have an easy life.

unfortunately that is not the easy option.

The Zetec engine is post 1996, so will have to meet current regulations. for IVA and for MOT,

The year of registration comes up on the MOT testers screen

Ah really? Darn...I was hoping they would just look at the Q plate and do a basic 'does it smoke' test but makes sense that it's all computerised now...

Thought this reg was cool so showed the wife who also thought it was cool.

It's not for sale anymore. Has someone bought it or has my wife for the upcoming birthday?!?!?

She recommended the kit car and now possibly bought that!

Anyone got a mrs better than mine 😉 (I'll rephrase that- what's she after/done?)

Sounds like a keeper to me. Smile

Unless of course she is just waiting for you to finish the car for her to drive off in. Wink

The best part being you will get to build another one. Cool

I would imagine the plate was bought by a private company re-seller who will stick their own mark up on top of the price tag. They're linked in to the DVLA so often are advertising plates they don't actually own that you can buy direct from the DVLA for less! I believe they can see what people are looking at so if you've looked at the plate, then 10 others look at it because you posted about it on here, then they might think its work buying so have the exclusive rights on it!

Same thing happened with a vanishing plate a while ago when I looked at GB52 ERO which was £500 on the DVLA site, when I looked back a few weeks later it was gone. Never did see where it went, but not seen in on a car anywhere!!

Pretty sure I've seen that GB52 ERO on a car quite recently actually.
I've never seen the attraction of personalised plates, however the DVLA gave me one for free which finished POP lol. Running joke for a while was as I'd built it, it would go pop, fortunately those little Mazda engines are pretty bullet proof! Got more chance of my new V6 going Pop instead LaughLaugh
